Dr. Gouverne understands the importance of the consultative process, and he aims to make each patient feel unhurried and valued. He guides you through the steps of your surgical process, ensuring you stay fully informed about what's involved in both your pre- and postoperative care. He encourages you to be open about your desired outcome in order for you to both work toward the same goal.
During your Corpus Christi rhinoplasty, Dr. Gouverne makes inconspicuous incisions on the rim of your nose and inside your nostrils. Without disturbing the delicate soft tissue of the nose, Dr. Gouverne gently reshapes the supporting structure that causes the external imperfection. The nose is made of a combination of bone and cartilage, and the technique Dr. Gouverne uses for your specific surgery depends on which concerns you'd like to address. During your consultation and preoperative appointments, Dr. Gouverne thoroughly outlines your surgery for you so that you know exactly what to expect.
Immediately following surgery, external dressing is applied to your nose that needs to remain in place for 5 to 7 days. During this time, you may experience some discomfort, which is manageable with prescribed pain relievers and cold compresses.
During this time, the area around your eyes may swell and discolor. Although these symptoms can be alarming, they aren't cause for concern, and they'll diminish over the next few weeks.
Because of the complexity of the nose's structure, the full benefits of rhinoplasty may not be fully realized for up to 1 year after the procedure as swelling fades.
Unlike many other facial cosmetic surgery procedures, rhinoplasty has nothing to do with aging. It can be performed as soon as the nose is fully grown, which, for most people, happens around age 16. After age 45, rhinoplasty may still be performed, but the nasal tissues are thicker and can be more difficult to sculpt and manipulate. Regardless of when a rhinoplasty is performed, however, our patients often say, "I should have done this years ago!"
