Brow lift surgery by Corpus Christi surgeon Dr. Max Gouverne is a procedure that lifts a sagging or drooping brow to give the eyes a smoother, friendlier, and more youthful appearance. As an individual ages and muscle tone diminishes in the forehead, lines may develop along the brow, eyebrows may begin to droop, and the eyes can appear smaller or sleepier than they actually are. A brow lift cannot only improve the appearance of the eyes, but it can also diminish or smooth out the age-related furrows, creases, and frown lines above and between the eyebrows.

Dr. Gouverne understands that each patient is an individual and has unique goals, anatomy, and lifestyle habits. During your consultation, he takes the time to speak with you at length about your areas of concern, working with you to develop a detailed plan of action that safely creates the results you want. Depending on your desires and condition, he may recommend other procedures, such as eyelid surgery, instead of or in addition to your brow lift.
Dr. Gouverne keeps you fully informed throughout the entire surgical process. He gives you detailed instructions for preparing yourself for surgery and caring for yourself afterward. He wants each patient to feel confident about the surgery before making a final decision.
At Dr. Gouverne's Corpus Christi office, he performs brow lift surgery as an outpatient procedure. You may return home shortly after your surgery, but you'll need a trusted friend or family member to help you.
During a brow lift, Dr. Gouverne makes an incision at or slightly behind the hairline, where it will be completely hidden by surrounding hair. He carefully relaxes the muscles responsible for wrinkles and furrows, then gently lifts and stretches the skin to reposition the brow to a higher, more youthful-looking placement. The results are an alert, refreshed appearance.
Patient experiences vary after brow lift surgery. During the first 3 to 5 days following the procedure, patients may experience some discomfort, which can be controlled with prescribed pain relievers. Although most patients are up and around by the second day, these medicines make some people feel tired or worn out. It's important to rest when you need to — don't rush into any activity before you feel ready.
For two weeks following the procedure, temporary swelling and bruising in the upper cheek area are common. Patients are encouraged to wear tinted glasses to help conceal these conditions. Most patients are able to return to work after about a week, but your required downtime can vary. Dr. Gouverne recommends that patients avoid sun exposure and any strenuous activity for several weeks following surgery. Although brow lift surgery is a fairly straightforward procedure, it's important to care for yourself properly following the procedure to facilitate good healing. Although brow lift surgery can drastically improve the appearance of the upper face, it does not stop the aging process. Eventually, visual signs of aging will develop, but they may be addressed with revisionary surgery or non-surgical treatments. With proper postoperative care, you can maintain your results for many years.
