Liposuction vs. Liposculpture

We are often asked about these two terms. The following case shows what is meant with the more modern term- “Liposculpture”

This young Hispanic woman was concerned about the lack of definition of her waist. In spite of a rigorous exercise routine she fails to show any definition of her waist.

“I am as straight as a board with no shape in my waist at all”, says this young woman. “I would like to have some definition to my waist. I look just like the other women in my family.”

Liposculpture was used to redefine and deepen her waist profile. The same three-dimensional approach was used to round her buttocks. Rather than indiscriminate removal of fat volume, targeted blended technique was used to “Liposculpture” her shape to the desired effect.

Liposuction
Many individuals turn to liposuction to reduce or eliminate unwanted bulges on their thighs, hips, and abdomen that cannot be eliminated through diet and exercise. The procedure sculpts the body to its proper proportions and many patients find that self-image and self-confidence improve as well. The dramatic results obtained through liposuction can be maintained by adhering to a healthy diet and exercise program.

A tiny incision is made in an inconspicuous location near the area to be treated. We use a small cannula to suction fat cells that are causing the undesirable proportion. In 1996, we added ultrasonic liposuction to our arsenal in the battle against the bulge.

Immediately following the procedure patients may feel a burning sensation and moderate discomfort which can be managed with over-the-counter or prescription pain relievers. Patients must wear a snug support garment for approximately two weeks following the procedure to keep bruising and swelling to a minimum. Significant reduction is seen immediately but the final appearance is usually realized in three to six months following treatment.
