Hollywood gossip has perpetuated this mythical operation. Sher, Jelo, and several other actresses allegedly had the lower ribs removed to “pinch in” the waistline. Narrowed waists have been fashionable as long as corsets have been around. Of course, these garments are relegated to the exotic lingerie category. In this age of fitness and health a “natural “ look is desired. About ten years ago remarkable transformations in the waist area were whispered about. Sher benefited from this operation when she had her waist reduced. The popular press picked up on this and rumors of rib-removals were flying.
